January 1, 2019 Hiking Expedition with Artist In Residence, photographer Sue Wolfe

Sue and I made a long anticipated trip to one of the back island dune fields, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Sue is the Padre Island National Seashore Artist in Residence. Her pictures documenting Padre Island National Seashore can be seen as she releases them on her website at www.where-2-next.com or on her Instagram at instagram.com/suewolfe4943.

Fishing charter!

Had some wonderful repeat customers of mine along for a fishing charter, and even though the cold fronts and weather weren’t quite optimal, they told me, “Let’s go regardless, and we’ll just enjoy the beach and the day!” Great plan! That is a wonderful way to enjoy the longest undeveloped barrier island in the world, and all it has to offer. Not only did we fish HARD but we had a quite tasty grilled sirloin hamburger lunch and then enjoyed some flounder and trout fishing along the channel and mama even relaxed and enjoyed a good book in the late day sunshine!

Shelling and sightseeing charter!

Had a blast recently with a very awesome couple that was interested in shelling, maybe a little fishing, and a fun day on the beach! Thanks for a great trip guys! Hope to see you again!

Harrington/Harnell 555 Virgin build and 553 Rebuild.

Steve has really out done himself again.  In usual fashion, he was able to expertly  reproduce two of the most sought after and desired beach shark fishing rods from Florida to Texas.  Not only are these original Harrington rods vintage and no longer available anywhere, but the guides and reel seats he used are also vintage.  There's something to be said for those generations who fished and came before us.  And these rods pay homage to that.  As usual, he wrapped them in original wraps with original almost nonexistent Gudebrod thread.   I wouldn't have it any other way out of respect for the original look.  Awesome job Steve and thankyou.

Day Shelling and Sightseeing trip

When the phone rang for a shelling and sightseeing trip, I was pumped!  That's what our wonderful National Seashore is all about!  Not only did we talk some history of the Island, but we were able to see Green Hill, and the rest of the beach all the way to the jetties.  Without a 4 wheel drive, this customer was unable to take his daughter and significant other down island, and that's exactly where we come in!  Thanks so much for a great day David!  Seeing a little girl's delight at the beauty of shells and ultimately nature are what the National Parks of this great country are all about!

Overnight Shark Charter

When the phone rang for an overnight shark charter, I was stoked!  We had more than a little fun!  Steaks, baked potatoes, fresh green beans-we ate pretty good!  These guys fished HARD, and not just for sharks.  We put in 24 hours of sharking, then went on the hunt for other fish up and down the beach.  Thanks for a good time guys!
